We had a very busy day as we are wrapping up our first trimester this week. So in the process I did not take many photos. We are also beginning to learn words and songs for our Advent service on December 13. We began a new set of literacy centers and some of them are helping the students to work on ending sounds in words. At another center the students are taking surveys about making gingerbread. The reading center helps the students to practice matching words to a poem and the word work center provides practices with putting words in the correct order to make sentences in a special train book. We had fun singing a fun "Hippo Hop" song as we practiced words that begin with h. It is important to practice the correct formation of Hh and to make sure that h does not resemble n. In the afternoon the students investigated the temperature of ice water, warm water and cold water using a thermometer. We verified that the red line on the thermometer goes up for warmer temperatures and down for cooler temperatures. In Math we continued to work on part to whole relationships and worked hard to identify the missing part. Finally, we are beginning to learn about animals that are getting ready for winter. We read a special newspaper about hibernation and we look forward to watching the video that goes with the newspaper tomorrow.
