Thanks to everyone that has been sending me pictures from the Kindergarten Authors' Tea!!! I am so blessed! If anyone has any other special ones, please send them to me and I will be glad to post them below. The kids are still talking about the event! They had such a great time and one little guy even asked if he could have some of our writing center papers to take home for the summer. How could I say no to that! That is just wonderful!
Everyone had a great learning experience at the post office today! Thanks to everyone that drove! It took awhile to upload the photos....there are 252 from yesterday and today. Sorry if there are duplicates, but I wanted to try and get these posted today. I took one of each child in the driver's seat of the mail truck. Just scroll to find one of your child.
We are working very hard this week on a new set of literacy and thematic centers. During our literacy center mini lessons we are learning all about how to form questions and what words are good to use first when asking questions? Our center rotations include a game to form CVC words, hunting for blends with magnifying glasses, sorting long and short i words, sorting facts and opinions, and composing good questions. Our thematic centers focus on the ocean. The students are making crayon resist unerwater scenes, designing a sight word book entitled Is It Alive?, sorting and classifying shells, answering questions about shells, and writing stories about the ocean. We have been having fun playing card games to compare quantities as we also incorporate using the greater than, less than, and equal symbols. Today it was also fun to make little cuckoo clocks to practice telling time. We watched videos of the largest cuckoo clock in the world as well as other famous clocks around Europe. It has been fun to learn all about water around the world and oceans through the use of special newspapers and videos.
